How to Get the Most Out of Your Handmade Soap

Keep Your Soap Dry Between Uses

The secret to making handmade soap last is allowing it to dry out between uses.

The natural soap bases we use have a naturally high glycerine content which is great to help retain skin moisture and for those with sensitive skin, however it can also mean our bars will dissolve more quickly if left in water.

To extend their life, please ensure they are not left submerged in water and leave them to completely dry between uses on a well draining soap dish. This allows water to run away and air to circulate around the bar. Avoid leaving your soap sitting in water, as this will cause it to soften and wear away more quickly.

Store Unused Bars Correctly

The high glycerine content can also mean if the soaps get too hot or too cold they can start to sweat, we recommend you keep your soaps in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and excess humidity, until you are ready to use them.

Keeping your soaps in a drawer or cupboard will help preserve their fragrance until you're ready to use them.

Use with Warm Water

Lather your soap with warm water and gently massage the rich foam onto your skin. Rinse thoroughly and allow the bar to dry completely before its next use.

Make Your Soap Last Even Longer

• Cut larger bars into two or three smaller pieces and use one at a time.
• When the soap starts to get really small and more difficult to hold, place into one of our exfoliating bags and continue to use until it is all used up.
• Keep spare pieces stored in a dry place.
• Rotate between bars to allow each one to dry fully between uses.
